Here is a charity that wants to save you money....

A  new initiative has been created which could save your organisation money.  Based in Liverpool the project is The Ministry of Food.

The aim of the Ministry of Food is to assist food manufacturers
throughout England by taking their unwanted, excess or damaged
(but still safe and edible) food and distributing it to a wide range of
charities in the Cheshire, Flintshire and Merseyside areas.

They are partnering with the Wirral Council and Premier
Foods to distribute food each month to charities such as the
British Legion, Age Concern, Sisters of the Missionaries and
many others.

If they can accomplish their goal they will effectively do
three things for food manufacturers:

• Reduce costs that would be incurred by dumping
excess into landfills.

• By avoiding landfills, show a significant reduction in
CO2 emissions which is important for any food
manufacturer concerned about being
environmentally friendly

• Generate significant goodwill by using what
normally would be thrown away and giving that food
to the poor and disadvantaged throughout our local
communities.

They do not discriminate in any way as to who can receive the food
nor who can donate. They  only want to ensure the food they receive
has a long enough shelf life (hopefully 1-2 months or more
remaining), so they can have time to get it into the hands of
charities who need it.

Ideally any excess food would be brought to their warehouse
in Liverpool but they may be able to arrange for pick-up.
